Black- Jazz & Breakdance 17 May 2001
This evening’ s danskaravaan opened with Freezone, conducting a cool workshop on headspin, windmill, backspin and six step. They went on to give a virtuoso break dance performance. Next, Footwork’s black jazz dancers improvised on groovy jazz rhythm and presented hip-hop dances. Finally, both jazz and break-dancers came to the stage and gave a joint performance. After the show, MMAF’s reggae music was great to dance to all night long.

salsa 18 May 2001
The evening started with a salsa and meringue workshop by Milton Lopez. After, Rina Bernabela’s Euro Latino Dance Company presented a sparkling show, combining salsa, late jazz and R&B, alternating with Milton Lopez, fluidly dancing the bachata. The performance was concluded by a group dance: a rapidly circling rueda. Till midnight, people danced to the stimulating sound of the Quinteto Lagrimas Negras from Cuba.

Morau Sherwin Rokondie conducted a capoeira workshop. Later, Daluz Lopes’ Butterfly Girls from Cape Verde Islands gave a dance performance, followed by Wicked by Nature’s presentation of street dance. Filomena conducted an Afro-Senegalese workshop, then Rosa Maria and her Kizomba dance group performed traditional festive dances such as the bakonga and baluba. Lantuna presented the batuco, funana, cola San Jon and morna. Senegal’s Fula Band played dance music.

Moroccan women danced with Radia Elhachioui in the afternoon. In the evening Laudie Vrancken conducted an oriental dance workshop and her group Guahara gave a performance of the regadda, sous, sloeh and gnaoua. Rosa Maria, an Angolan dancer, and Radia Elhachioui danced together, showing the similarities in Moroccan and Angolan dance traditions. The audience was completely carried away by the exciting sound of El Amal and danced to the cha’abi and the jabali.
